Olympics Committee releases first visual identity

The IOC announced on Wednesday that the International Olympic Committee released its first visual identity in order to bring the Olympic brand and core values to life.

The new visual system was created to bolster the core values of the Olympic brand, while enhancing consistency, recognition and impact across all IOC platforms, communications and publications, the IOC said in a media release.

The release said that the IOC recognized the need to create a comprehensive foundational identity that can be used across all mediums and channels.

The full brand rollout is expected to be completed by the 2024 Paris Olympic GamesOlympic Games.

May Guerraoui, Head of Brand Management at the IOC, said that the developed brand pushes further the Olympic brand identity through a vibrant extended palette based on Olympic colors, inspirational illustrations and tailor-made typography. It's about leveraging a new design system to communicate brand values with emotion. The new design system, created by Canadian agency Hulse Durrell and a team of international artists, consists of three custom typefaces, a series of graphic devices, 17 illustrations and a set of guidelines for how to incorporate the identity.

The IOC release said that every element was designed to reflect the hopeful, universal, inclusive, vibrant and progressive qualities of the Olympic brand.
