Poland hands over Small Narew defence system

04.10.2022

Poland's defence minister handed over the Small Narew short-range defence system to Polish armed forces in the eastern city of Zamosc on Tuesday.

Mariusz Blaszczak attended the ceremony along with his British counterpart, Ben Wallace.

In the development of the small Narew system, Poland and the UK have cooperated, as the short-range anti-aircraft and anti-missile launchers are based on British technology, according to Blaszczak. The system consists of Polish radars and trucks and British missiles and launchers.

The two ministers also signed a deal on the development of another Polish short-range air defence system, Pilica, which will be equipped with British CAMM missiles.

The two systems, together with US-made PAP Patriots, will provide a very effective response when it comes to such threats as cruise missiles, Blaszczak said.
