Three US states have been charged with stealing credit cards from mail

04.10.2022

Three U.S. states have three U.S. citizens, according to the Justice Department. Postal Service workers were arrested last week for using credit cards in connection with the theft and unauthorized use of credit cards, which resulted in the loss of more than 1.3 million.

According to a release from the DOJ, individuals worked with USPS mail carriers to steal credit cards from the mail before they were delivered to assigned customers starting in or around 2018, according to a release from the DOJ.

The individuals are accused of using stolen credit cards at high-end retailers and selling some of the merchandise purchased on LuxurySnob.com.

The Justice Department said that many of the items were purchased using stolen credit cards, but the website claimed to be an online consignment and personal shopping company specializing in pre-owned luxury items.

Nathanael Foucault, Jonathan Persaud and Fabiola Mompoint, all postal workers, were arrested. Devon Richards, who is not a postal worker, was arrested while five others were charged with being at large, according to the DOJ.

The defendants took advantage of the public trust we place in the U.S. Damian Williams, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement that the Postal Service employees were being used for their own financial gain. The defendants will now be held accountable for their brazen criminal conduct thanks to the diligence of USPIS, the NYPD and the USPS-OIG. If found guilty, the workers could face several years in prison.
