Sony’s PlayStation Stars Loyalty Program launches in us and Canada

The wait to earn bonuses for playing and buying PlayStation games and products is over in the U.S. and Canada, with the reward program making its debut today.

What Happened: Sony Group Corp.'s SONY PlayStation Stars Loyalty Program was launched in the U.S. and Canada. It will allow users to earn loyalty points and store credit for digital products.

According to a PlayStation blog, loyalty points can be used to buy PSN Wallet cash, exclusive digital collectibles, and select PlayStation Store products.

The reward program is already in place in Asia. It is scheduled to be released in Europe, Australia and New Zealand on October 13, according to the blog.

Why It's Important: The PlayStation Stars program is completely free of cost, and is announced in July. Once a member, users can earn rewards by completing a wide range of activities.

There is a 'Monthly Check-In' campaign where gamers just need to play a game to get a reward.

There is a new type of reward for the PlayStation Stars, as well as digital collectibles. The first look for digital collectible rewards was unveiled recently, which includes a scene with Punto the gondolier from the Ape Escape 2, PlayStation 3, PocketStation, Toro and Kuro celebrating a birthday, Chord Machine, and Polygon Man, said another PlayStation blog.
