Buffett gives Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares worth nearly $759 million

Warren Buffett donated Class B shares of the company to family charities on Wednesday, as a result of Berkshire Hathaway Inc NYSE: BRK-A NYSE: BRK-B Chair.

What Happened to Buffett, one of the richest people in the world, donated 2.4 million Class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway - worth nearly $759 million based on Wednesday's closing price - according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation received 1.5 million shares, while the 300,000 shares were donated to the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation, and the Novo Foundation.

The Susan Thompson Foundation is named after Buffett's first wife and the rest of the charities run by his children.

After the latest donation, Buffett owns 15.5% of Berkshire's shares and 31.4% of the company's voting power.

The SEC filing didn't mention any gifts to the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation, which is an annual beneficiary of Buffett's charity.

The Foundation and Berkshire Hathaway did not respond immediately to Benzinga's request for comment on the development.

Buffett donated more than $36 billion to the foundation run by Microsoft co-founder in September.

Price Action: Berkshire Hathaway's Class A shares closed on Wednesday at $476,980, a 1.7% increase in the regular session. According to Benzinga Pro data, the company's Class B shares closed 0.2% higher at $316.27.
