Volkswagen brands pause Twitter activity

24.11.2022

Volkswagen's brands have stopped all paid activities on Twitter until further notice, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.

Volkswagen, which owns Audi, Audi, Seat, Cupra, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati and Porsche, said earlier this month that it recommended the brands pause paid advertising on Twitter until further notice following Elon Musk's takeover of the platform.

A Volkswagen spokeswoman said all brands had followed the advice, while Audi had opted to halt organic activities, such as direct posts, and only respond to questions from clients on the website.

According to company sources, Audi had stopped all activities on the social media platform, according to WirtschaftsWoche.

An Audi spokeswoman said in an email to Reuters that they were monitoring the situation closely and will decide on the next steps depending on developments.

Audi hasn't tweeted since Nov. 1 after previously tweeting almost every day. Elon Musk took over Twitter in late October.
