The creator of Doge coin 'half detached,' says he's not mad'

24.11.2022

In an open letter on Reddit this week, Billy Markus, co-founder of DOGEUSD, addressed the heightened interest in the coin he created as a joke.

Markus was an engineer at IBM at the time he created Doge coin, along with the Adobe engineer Jackson Palmer. Marcus is now a software engineer at a Bay Area education company, he told Bloomberg on Wednesday.

The Doge coin co-founder, who left the project in 2015, told Bloomberg that I am half detached, but it is weird that something I made in a few hours is now part of the internet culture.

The CEO of Tesla Inc., TSLA, has been the driving force behind the recent surge in Doge coin price.

The users of Twitter and the SatoshiStreetBets continue to call for the pumping of the cryptocurrency, and the goal of Doge coin is to hit $1.

Markus noted that Doge coin at $1 would take its market value above that of real companies that provide services to millions like IBM, Starbucks, American Express Company and Boeing.

That isn't something I can comprehend, let alone answer, Markus said.

What is the Difference Between Dogenomics and DogeCoin?

As a force of good, Markus became disenchanted with the coin soon after he created it, as the initial community that built around Doge coin took a direction that he couldn't agree with.

The Doge Mother, as some in the community call him, hopes that Doge coin can be a force for good. Pump and dumping, rampant greed, scamming, bad faith actors, demanding others, hype without research, taking advantage of others - all are worthless, according to Marcus.

The creator of Doge coin said that it was worse than worthless and brought more negativity to an already difficult world. When I see things like that - and I've seen plenty of it through the last 7 years - I'm not mad, just disappointed. Marcus noted the good causes the Doge coin community has served over the years, including helping build water wells in Africa, helping connect service dogs and kids and silly and amusing causes, such as helping the Jamaican Bobsled team to the Olympics or sponsoring a Nascar driver. Price Action: Doge coin was 11% lower at $0.06 at press time on Thursday.
