Hong Kong records 15 COVID-19 deaths

HONG KONG Daily COVID 19 caseload in Hong Kong crossed the 10,000 mark on Thursday when the health authorities reported 15 COVID-related deaths.

The huge leap was due to the growth in locally acquired infections, which went from 8,153 on Wednesday to 9,531 on Thursday.

There were 373 detected at the Hong Kong International Airport, 190 during days 1 to 3 and the remaining 43 from day 4 to day 7, the Centre for Health Protection CHP of the Department of Health said in a statement.

The Public Health Laboratory Services Branch PHLSB had identified 224 cases of sub-lineage XBB, six of XBD, eight of BA as of Thursday. There were 2, seven of BA. 4.6, 13 of BF. The CHP said that there were 1.1 infections among imported infections.

There were 97 cases of sub-lineage XBB, 18 of XBD, one of BA. Four of the BF were BF. 1.1 were also detected among locally transmitted infections.

The city has seen 10,549 people die with COVID during the current epidemic wave, or 10,762 since the pandemic began locally, with 15 COVID 19 patients passing away.
