Biden looks forward to supporting Prime Minister Modi during G-20 presidency

President Joe Biden said on Friday that he was looking forward to supporting his friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi during India's G-20 presidency, despite the fact that India is a strong partner of the US.

Prime Minister Modi said on Thursday that India will work to promote oneness, inspired by the theme of One Earth, One Family, One Future, and cited terror, climate change, and Pandemic as the greatest challenges that can be fought together.

India's G 20 priorities will be shaped in consultation with not only our G 20 partners, but also our fellow travelers in the global South, whose voice often goes unheard, Modi said in an article that appeared in several newspapers and was posted on his website as well.

He said India's G 20 agenda will be inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and decisive.

The US President said that both countries would pursue sustainable and inclusive growth while tackling shared challenges like the climate, energy, and food crises. The next G 20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled to take place at the level of head of state government on September 9 and 10 in New Delhi.

The G 20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies.

It comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the EU EU Together. They account for over 80 per cent of the global Gross Domestic Product, 75 per cent of international trade and two-thirds of the world population.
