Global warming far beyond 1.5 degrees, new analysis finds

07.12.2022

A new analysis found Tuesday that the climate policies of the most wealthy countries and many high-emitting emerging economies are in line with global warming far beyond the 1.5 degree Celsius limit reaffirmed at the UN climate talks last month.

The Paris Equity Check found that even after countries raised their ambitions to reduce greenhouse gases in the last 18 months, the United States, Canada, Australia and the European Union are working on plans that could see warming between 2.1 C and 3.4 C.

China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are facing a 5 C heating crisis by the end of the century.
