BiH Presidency Chairperson speaks to Austrian Chancellor Nehammer

Bosni and Herzegovina BiH Presidency Chairperson Zeljka Cvijanovic spoke to the Federal Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, about strengthening cooperation in various areas, and the European path of BiH and the countries of the region in Tirana yesterday.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that Austria is one of the largest and most important trading and investment partners of BiH, and that numerous Austrian companies are successfully operating in the territory of both entities.

On this occasion, the Chairperson of the BiH Presidency thanked Chancellor Nehammer for his support in the field of European integration and obtaining candidate status for European Union membership.

She spoke with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borell, about the European integration process of BiH, with special emphasis on the possibility of granting candidate status at the December session of the European Council.

The current political situation in BiH was also discussed, and Chairperson Cvijanovic pointed out at the meeting that she expects the Government of the Republika Srpska RS to be formed in the next few days and expressed her expectation that the implementation of the election results at other levels of government in BiH will be quick and efficient.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Presidency emphasised her commitment to implementing the necessary reform processes in the domain of the European path of BiH, with full respect for the constitutional competencies of the various levels of government, and in accordance with the rules of the agreed mechanism for coordinating the European integration process of BiH.
