S.Korea truckers end nationwide strike

AHN YOUNG-JOON AP SEOUL - South Korean truckers voted to end a nationwide strike that had disrupted supply chains, their union said on Friday.

According to a text message from the Cargo Truckers Solidarity Union, about 62 percent of the union members voted to call off the strike. The vote to end the strike was confirmed by the union in a news release.

As many as 25,000 unionized truckers and some non-union drivers went on strike on November 24, according to the union.

They are calling for the government to make a minimum wage programme more permanent and wider in scope.

More truckers headed back to work this week, facing the possibility of lost income and lost jobs, according to drivers, as the government increased pressures.
