25.01.2023

The U.S. Justice Department and eight states have sued Alphabet sGoogle, calling for the dissolution of the search giant's advertising business over the alleged illegal monopolization of the digital advertising market.

The Justice Department's antitrust chief Jonathan Kanter said in a news conference Tuesday that the suit seeks to hold Google accountable for the longstanding monopolies in digital advertising technologies that content creators use to sell ads and advertisers on the open Internet.

New York, California and Virginia were among the states that signed on to the complaint, which was filed in federal court in Virginia.
