Putin’s mouthpiece says Russia will provide free Starlink services

26.01.2023

In October, President Vladimir Putin, who had previously threatened to use nuclear weapons to protect Russia's territory, denied any intentions of using such devices in the Ukraine war.

What Happened: Putin spoke at a conference of international foreign policy experts, saying it was pointless for Moscow to strike Kyiv with nuclear weapons.

He said that the war there is part of the efforts of the West to secure its global dominance. Putin said that there was no need for that.

He added that there was no point in that, neither political nor military.

Putin said earlier in the day that his readiness to use all means available to protect Russia wasn't a nuclear threat but merely a response to Western statements about their possible use of nuclear weapons.

He mentioned the former U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss statement from August in which she said she would be ready to use nuclear weapons upon taking over Britain's top office, a remark that Putin claims is worried about the Kremlin.

What should we think? Putin said something. We saw that as a coordinated position, an attempt to blackmail us. In a long speech, the Russian leader criticized the U.S. for trying to corner Russia and said that his country isn't the enemy of the West, but will continue to oppose the purported diktat of Western neoliberal elites.

He said that they want to make Russia more vulnerable and to make it an instrument for fulfilling their geopolitical tasks. They have failed to achieve it, and they will never succeed.
