Poland's FDI in Ukraine to increase to USD 30 billion

In the next five years, Poland's foreign direct investments FDI in Ukraine are expected to increase to USD 30 billion, according to a Polish think-tank.

In 2021, Poland's FDI totalled USD 1.2 billion, according to data from the National Bank of Poland NBP The Polish Economic Institute PIE wrote that investments by Polish companies in Ukraine will mostly be directed towards the energy, construction and financial sectors.

In September, Poland's exports to Ukraine went up by 46 percent year on year, while imports grew 23 percent, according to the International Monetary Fund IMF data.

They said that the growth had resulted from Poland's arms exports to that country and humanitarian aid provided after Russia invaded Ukraine.

The NBP said Poland's profit on direct investments in Ukraine went up from minus EUR 34 million in 2014 to a record of EUR 130 million in 2021.
