Morocco, Spain sign 20 agreements to boost investment, education

On February 2, 2023, Morocco's prime minister Aziz Akhannouch right and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez hold a joint press conference following the 12th session of the Morocco-Spain High Level Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rabat. Morocco and Spain signed 20 agreements to fight illegal immigration and their cooperation in the areas of investment, education and training.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 12th Moroccan-Spanish High Level Meeting, co-chaired by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez.

The financial agreement between the two countries was worth 870 million US dollars to encourage Spanish firms' investment in Morocco.

The two countries stressed the importance of cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, renewable energy, water and sanitation, education and health facilities, as well as education and health facilities during the High Level Meeting, according to a joint statement issued at the end of the meeting.

Spain welcomes the cooperation between the two countries in the field of circular and regular migration.

Both sides pledge to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, which is crucial for the security and stability of the Euro-Mediterranean region and global level.
