Ashden Awards open for Africa innovation

As part of its annual global awards, Ashden, a UK-based climate solutions charity, has opened entries which honour innovations that have widen access to clean energy.

Five of the eight awards are open to African organisations with one focused solely on solutions from the continent.

The winning innovation will address inequality as well as the causes and effects of global warming.

Africa is home to extraordinary innovation, as well as to many communities most threatened by climate change. Dr Stephen Hall, Ashden Head of Awards, said he was particularly keen to reward innovation that puts the power in the hands of communities and supports the most marginalised and disadvantaged.
