Polish Defence Ministry orders 70,000 Polish-made Grot assault rifles

09.02.2023

The Polish Defence Ministry has ordered nearly 70,000 Polish-made Grot assault rifles and is in talks for more purchases, according to Mariusz Blaszczak, defence minister.

Blaszczak said these are good, proven rifles. These rifles have been appreciated by the Polish army, as well as Ukrainian troops.

The defence minister said that the Grot rifle passed the most important test.

Blaszczak said we are sticking to our target of 300,000 members of the Polish Armed Forces, referring to Poland's plans to increase the size of the armed forces to that level. We're talking about that number of rifles.

He said it's not all, because we need to have rifles for the reservists.

Sebastian Chwalek, CEO of the Polish Armaments Group, said that the company's success in selling the weapons on the US and African markets showed that the Grot has potential. Poland has already contracted close to 100,000 Grots. In 2017 Polish soldiers received the first Grot assault rifles.
