Google hikes YouTube TV price, raises fees

17.03.2023

Google has an $8 monthly price hike on its YouTube TV base plan subscription, making it $72.99 a month. The cost had been $64.99 per month for three years, according to a tweet from YouTube TV.

Google chose to do so because content costs have gone up, and we continue to invest in the quality of YouTube TV. It was due to the rise of content costs, not specifically due to our new football offerings, according to TeamYouTube.

Another price change was unveiled Wednesday by Google. YouTube TV was launched six years ago by Google. In early February, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, reported that it generated $76.05 billion in fourth quarter revenues, a slight increase from the $75.33 billion it posted in the same period last year. The total revenue figure came from the Google Services segment, which includes YouTube, and nearly $69.4 billion of that total revenue figure came in at around $69.4 billion.

Its quarterly net income fell by nearly 34% year-over-year, going from $20.64 billion to $13.62 billion.
