What on Xi’s visit this week
Russia has shared information about the agenda, while Beijing hasn't provided any details on the agenda for the two-day state visit to Moscow by China s leader Xi Jinping.
On Monday, Xi is expected to arrive in Moscow at around 1: 30 p.m. local time 6: 30 a.m. Eastern. President Vladimir V. Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri V. Ushakov, said key negotiations would take place on Tuesday. He told reporters last week that the visit was called a state visit in order to emphasize its importance. Here is a look at what is on the schedule:
Russian news media reported that Mr. Putin could go out to greet Mr. Xi at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport, a gesture that would be a sign of how much the Russian leader values his deepening partnership with China.
Mr. Putin and Mr. Xi will have a bilateral meeting in the afternoon, according to Mr. Ushakov. He said that the informal closed conversation will cover the most important and sensitive issues, including international affairs.
