Video game developer CCP Games raises $4 million in funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz

Iceland-based video game developer CCP Games raised $4 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from other investors such as Makers Fund, Bitkraft and Nexon.

The new capital will be used to expand CCP Games' research and development team to develop a massively multiplayer online MMO set within the universe of Eve Online.

The company said that the new game will use smart-contract technology to create relationships between the virtual worlds and players.

The funding round led by a 16 z has given a boost to the development of MMO games. CCP Games is expected to leverage the strengths of the technology, such as centralized asset ownership, non-fungible NFTs and smart contracts, to provide players with unique and engaging experiences.
