Bulgarian agency says laboratory examination of chicken eggs from Ukraine

The results of the laboratory examination of chicken eggs imported from Ukraine will be clear today, according to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. With the help of the samples, it will be determined whether they contain radioactivity, heavy metals, inhibitors or residues of veterinary medicinal products.

More than 2.6 million eggs were imported from Ukraine and Latvia in the period March 9 -- 19 this year, but all of the shipments had the necessary documents and certificates from farms of proven origin and were approved for import into the EU, the agency said.
