Japan to beef up country's defence capabilities over 5 years

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida pledged to strengthen the country's defence capabilities over the next five years after the government updated its three key national security documents late last year.

In a speech from the National Defense Academy in the city of Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, he said that we will strengthen our country's defense capabilities over the next five years. Kishida said that the mission will only be completed after measures are put into action in the three documents.

He said that we came up with a series of necessary measures to beef up Japan's defense power through very realistic simulations.
