Crown Resorts probes GoAnywhere data breach

27.03.2023

The biggest casino operator Crown Resorts said on Monday it was investigating a data breach at its third party file transfer service, GoAnywhere, in which hackers obtained a limited number of Crown's files.

A spokesman for the formerly listed firm said that they were contacted by a ransomware group who claimed they had illegally obtained a limited number of Crown files.

We can confirm that no customer data has been compromised and our business operations have not been impacted. Suspicious activity at GoAnywhere was identified by the U.S. cybersecurity firm Fortra two months ago, and has impacted many organisations, including the mining giant Rio Tinto.

Crown's announcement comes on the heels of several other high-profile cybersecurity breaches in the country in the recent past, including the latest at the consumer finance firm Latitude Group.

Crown Resorts was bought out in a $6.3 billion deal by Blackstone Inc. in June.
