Elon Musk says Tesla Roadster production to start by the end of next year

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, said that Roadster's production will start by the end of next year.

The Roadster's design and engineering will be completed this year and it will be produced by the end of next year, Musk said. Musk answered a question posed to him on Twitter Spaces hosted by Ford Motor Co F CEO Jim Farley.

Musk thanked those who have been awaiting their Roadster vehicles for their patience and said: We are certainly testing the patience of our reservation holders. Tesla's financials are not expected to change much, but the Roadster is not expected to do so. Financially, it's sort of a small potato situation. It s not going to move the needle very much in a major way. It s not even the icing on the cake but the cherry on the cake, Musk said.

Musk said to Farley's query on Musk's cherry-colored first-generation roadster sent to space in 2018 as a dummy payload for a Falcon Heavy mission, that it does not appear to hit anything for the next 10 million years. The car can be identified on whereisroadster.com, Musk said.

It will be there even after the pyramids have eroded, Musk said.

At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting earlier this month, Musk said the Roadster's production will be ready for production next year. The Roadster, widely viewed as the quickest car in the world, was unveiled in November 2017 as a concept. It was first planned to start production in 2021.
