Canada to open category-based immigration management system for Express Entry

Sean Fraser, Canada's immigration minister, announced the launch of category-based selection for Canada's flagship economic immigration management system, Express Entry.

The country will also be able to issue invitations to apply ITA to permanent residents with specific skills, training or language abilities.

This year, category-based selection invitations will focus on candidates with a strong French language proficiency, or work experience in the fields of - - healthcare, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics STEM professions, trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors, transport, agriculture and agri-food.

The first invitations to apply are due to be sent in the fall, allowing applicants to apply for various category-based invitations.

With employers eager to fill countless vacant positions across the country, immigration becomes a crucial piece to solving this puzzle. Recognizing this reality, the Government of Canada is building an immigration system that acts as a catalyst for growth, empowering businesses, helping address their labor demands and strengthening French communities, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada said in an official statement.

On Monday, the government added that category-based selection will make Express Entry more responsive to Canada's changing economic and labour market needs while building on the high human capital approach that has been a hallmark of Canada's successful economic immigration system.

The Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class and a portion of the Provincial Nominee Program are among the top application management systems in Canada for those who want to immigrate permanently.

The Government of Canada made amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection ActImmigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022 to allow for the selection of immigrants based on key traits such as specific work experience or knowledge of French.

In Q4 there is a growth of 1% in Q3 and expansion of 7.2% in FY 23.
