Adidas again sells Yeezy shoes online

01.06.2023

After pulling the product and cutting ties with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, Adidas is now again selling Yeezy shoes online.

The German company resumed sales of the designer shoes on Wednesday after announcing in May that it had about $1.3 billion in leftover stock of the product. Adidas had cut all ties with Ye, following a storm of accusations of antisemitism against the entertainer.

The press release marks the first time that products have been available to consumers since adidas ended the YEEZY partnership in October 2022, the company said in a press release. The products will be available for sale in 2022 and 2023, with existing designs and designs instituted in 2022. Additional releases of existing inventory are currently being considered, but timing is yet to be determined. Adidas is currently offering Yeezy shoes for sale on the Adidas website. The company provided a disclaimer at the bottom of the website that a portion of each sale will be donated in support of the fight against discrimination, hate, racism and antisemitism. Adidas said it will donate the proceeds from the sale to the Anti-Defamation League and the Philonise Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change.

We believe selling the shoes is the best solution because it respects the created designs and produced shoes, resolves an inventory problem, and will have a positive impact in our communities, Adidas CEO Björn Gulden said on May 19 in a statement.

Adidas is only selling shoes on its mobile app, which has the shoes available for purchase for prices starting at $70 and rising to $280.

Shareholders who said they were economically hurt by the severed relationship with Ye have now filed a class-action lawsuit against Adidas. They allege that the losses they sustained stemmed from the company purportedly knowing about Ye's offensive behavior and failing to make proper disclosures to investors over the years. Adidas has said it doesn't accept the claims.
