Kenya to host Consumers Forum in 2021

02.06.2023

The Competition Authority of Kenya CAK, which successfully bid to host the forum, said that the selection of Kenya's selection symbolises the milestones achieved in promoting consumer welfare in recent years.

CAK acting director-general Dr Adano Wario said: We look forward to sharing our experience in promoting consumer protection both nationally and regionally as we work towards common solutions with leaders in attendance.

Consumers International, a London-based charity, organizes the event, bringing together governments, international agencies, businesses and civil society to tackle pressing issues impacting consumers worldwide. The event is held every four years.

The forum's agenda is to seek answers to crucial questions as the world grapples with a variety of catastrophes, including rising consumer prices, climate change hazards, and consumer vulnerability despite rapid digitization.

Global leaders have only a short window of chance to tackle the most significant challenges threatening people and the planet. Over the past years, we have seen that breakthrough solutions will be reliant on consumers, said Consumers International Chairman Helena Leurent.

Previous editions of the Congress have been held in Portugal, Australia, Hong Kong, 2011 FIFA World Cup, and Portugal 2019.
