Vegan-based burger maker Neat Burger to expand global presence

04.06.2023

The rising concerns over climate change and carbon emissions have prompted the need to move from traditional animal-based meats to plant-based substitutes that are eco-friendly and sustainable.

With the world s population forecasting 10 billion people by 2050, there is a pressing need to find a sustainable approach to meet the growing demand for meat. Neat Burger, the plant-based food startup, backed by Lewis Hamilton and Leonardo DiCaprio, created a plant-based burger that appeals to both flexitarian and plant-based consumers.

Neat Burger, which has made $18 million in Series B funding, is now expanding its global presence. With operations currently in three territories, the company has established its sights on the United States by opening its first office in Nolita, New York last month.

The B-Flexion initiative, a private institutional investment firm founded by Ernesto Bertarelli, was backed by existing investors such as Formula One Champion Lewis Hamilton, who is renowned for his support for the environment and Chimera Capital. The round is also supported by new investors such as LionTree, New Theory Ventures, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and model and actress Sara Sampaio.

Neat Burger is committed to making plant-based eating more accessible to everyone, and it is proud to announce that it is making plant-based eating more accessible. Our generation is leading the way and promoting this change, with research showing that once Gen-Z adopts a vegan or flexitarian diet, 70% stick with it. The key is getting people to try it and integration it into their daily lives. First impressions count and Neat Burger's approach, combining fun and sustainability, has the potential to change the world, Chiara Bertarelli said in a statement.

Neat Burger, established in 2019 by CEO Zack Bishti and Tommaso Chiabra, is one of the world's fastest-growing plant-based food groups. It has quickly become renowned for its innovative approach, guaranteeing that its products appeal to both flexitarian and plant-based consumers.

The restaurant's profits in the first month exceeded expectations, as a result of a high number of repeat clients, making it the best-selling restaurant in the company.

We see New York as a tastemaker gateway to the US, and by all metrics it has been our most successful launch to date,' said Zack Bishti, co-founder and CEO of Neatburger. We are gratified to see customers continue to return to New York, and we are eager to see them again as a result of their good taste and strong opinions. We're at the heart of the growth in plant-based diets and our proximity to the customer voice sets us apart. Neat Burger, based in New York, plans to expand globally with upcoming restaurant openings in Italy and the Middle East. In October 2022, the franchise's first venture in the Middle East took place in Dubai. Neat Burger is expanding its business-to-business B2B sector by forming collaborations with hospitality groups and companies, helping them achieve their net-zero objectives.
