Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development to attend OECD ministerial meet

ANDY CHONG, CHINA DAILY HONG KONG - Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah has been scheduled to fly to Paris on Monday to attend an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development ministerial meeting.

Hau said in a statement that he will attend the Ministerial Council meeting of the OECD and then proceed to Budapest to forge closer economic and trade ties between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Hungary.

On 7 June, Yau will attend a discussion session in the OECD meeting with participating ministers on trade policies for resilient and inclusive growth.

Hong Kong is expected to gain from the trade deal.

He also will meet with French business people to promote Hong Kong's advantages and business opportunities.

From 8 June to 9 June, Yau will attend a roundtable luncheon with Hungarian business leaders in Budapest and also meet with senior officials to discuss economic and trade cooperation issues.

Afterwards, Yau will visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to take part in the 10th Arab-China Business Conference on June 11 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The conference aims to encourage cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Arab nations in the areas of economy, trade and investment.

Under secretary for commerce and economic development, Bernard Chan Pak-li will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Yau's absence.
