6.0 magnitude earthquake strikes off Indonesia, but tsunami ruled out

PHOTO AP JAKARTA A 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia's western province of East Java early Thursday, but did not potentially trigger a tsunami, the country's meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency said.
The weather agency said that the earthquake occurred at 00:04am Thursday in Jakarta Time 1704 GMT Wednesday, with its epicenter at 117 km southwest of the district of Pacitan and a depth of 10 km below the seabed.

The tremors of the earthquake were not able to cause huge waves.
