Spain completes evacuation of 81 Spanish military personnel from Afghanistan

MADRID, Aug 27 - Spain has completed its evacuation of personnel from Afghanistan and the last evacuees are expected to land at the military air base on Friday night in Torrejon near Madrid, the government said.

Two military aircraft carrying the last 81 Spanish, returning to Dubai and moving out of Kabul, arrived early Friday morning at the government in Dubai.

The planes were also carrying four Afghan soldiers and 83 Portuguese workers who had worked with NATO countries.

The comments of the two flights conclude the evacuation of Spanish personnel and Afghan allies and their families, according to the statement.

Over the course of its rescue mission, Spain evacuated 1,898 Afghans who had worked with the United Nations and the European Union.
