Hurricane Ida expected to make landfall on U.S. northern Gulf Coast

August 28 - Hurricane Ida is expected to make landfall along the U.S. northern Gulf Coast, within the hurricane warning area, on Saturday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

The center of Ida will move over the North Central Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, the agency announced in its latest advisory. Ida is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane when it approaches the northern Gulf coast this Sunday, it added.

ET, Ida is about 150 miles off Cuba's Havana. He was able to record maximum sustained winds of 80 mph the NHC said.
