Bulgarian President Thanks Indian Navy for Rescuing Hijacked Ship and Crew
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has publicly thanked the Indian Navy for their courageous rescue operation of the hijacked Bulgarian ship, MV Ruen, and its crew. The ship, known as the "Rouen," was taken over by pirates while carrying eight Bulgarians, nine Myanmarese, and one Angolan citizen across the Arabian Sea in December of the previous year. President Radev expressed his sincere gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Navy's brave action in ensuring the safe return of the Bulgarian ship and crew, highlighting the rescue of seven Bulgarian citizens in particular.
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel also extended her appreciation to the Indian Navy for their pivotal role in releasing the hijacked ship's crew. Through a series of official statements and Facebook posts, she acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseas representations of Bulgaria, and international partners in securing the crew's freedom. Minister Gabriel emphasized the involvement of the Indian Navy in the successful release of all sailors, confirming their good health and ongoing efforts for their prompt repatriation back to Bulgaria.
