Congress President Urges Wide Publicity for Manifesto Ahead of Elections
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee, highlighted the urgency of ensuring the party's manifesto receives extensive publicity in various states and that their commitments are communicated to every household in the country. He drew parallels between the present government's 'guarantees' and the fate of the 'India Shining' slogan from 2004, stating that the nation is yearning for a change and emphasizing the importance of getting their message across effectively.
Kharge urged Congress workers in villages and towns to actively engage in taking the party manifesto to every home, emphasizing that the promises made in the manifesto would be rigorously implemented. He expressed confidence in the manifesto being a document of trust and commitment, with a thorough discussion held to ensure the promises are feasible. The Congress president also commended the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi for elevating the concerns of the people and conducting a massive movement drawing national attention to the real issues faced by citizens.
During the meeting attended by senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, key elements of the party manifesto were presented by P Chidambaram, who chairs the manifesto committee. The Congress is focusing on the 'five nyay' (justices) - 'Bhagidari Nyay', 'Kisan Nyay', 'Nari Nyay', 'Shramik Nyay', and 'Yuva Nyay', rolling out 25 guarantees linked to these five categories. The party, which has announced 82 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, is gearing up for further discussions to finalize candidates for the remaining seats, with Kharge leading the Central Election Committee in these deliberations.
