BJP-JD(S) Seat-Sharing Talks and AAP's Accusations Against ED

19.03.2024

Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra has engaged in discussions with JD(S) leadership after consulting with his party's high command. This move comes in response to JD(S) expressing dissatisfaction over seat allocation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Pashupati Kumar Paras has resigned as union minister following the BJP's seat-sharing agreement with his estranged nephew, Chirag Paswan. The NDA has abandoned Paras, who leads a faction of the Lok Janshakti Party and holds five seats in the current Lok Sabha. Paras, the brother of Ram Vilas Paswan, had previously rebelled against Chirag Paswan's leadership and split the party into two factions.

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are set to hold seat-sharing talks in Tamil Nadu after PMK announced its decision to ally with the BJP for the 2024 General Elections. PMK leaders are expected to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting in Salem. The names of the candidates will be announced by PMK founder Ramadoss on Wednesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of acting as a political wing of the BJP. The AAP has dismissed the ED's allegations against it and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the excise policy as "blatantly false and frivolous." The ED had alleged that AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, conspired to obtain favors in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy by paying Rs 100 crore to the AAP.
