Four wagons of goods train derails in Kerala

Kochi Kerala India January 28 ANI Four wagons of a goods train going towards Kollam in Kerala derailed at Aluva railway station on Thursday night, which has affected train services on the route but no injuries were reported, railway officials said.

The freight train was carrying cement from Andhra Pradesh.

The second, third, fourth and fifth wagonos of the train arrived at about 10.30 pm while entering the third platform of the Aluva station.

Some trains were stranded at different stations for hours, leading to a disruption of services.

There were four up trains and two down trains affected by the incident. The traffic through one of the tracks was restored at 2.15 am.

We hope to restore services soon. R Mukund, Railway Divisional Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, said that the second line is that we hope to restore services by 9 am.

Some trains have become short termination because of the disruptions. Some trains have been rescheduled. We are trying to restore services quickly. There will be some late running. It will be adjusted by the evening. We are busy with the balance works right now. He said that they hope to do it in another two-three hours.

A total of 11 trains have been cancelled including Guruvayur -- Thiruvananthapuram Express, Ernakulam -- Kannur Express, Kottayam Express Special, Guruvayur -- Ernakulam Express Special, Palakkad MEMU Express Special and Shoranur Ernakulam MEMU Express Special.
