Top prosecutor asks judge to charge Prime Minister for late Haitian president's assassination

14.09.2021

The top prosecutor has asked a judge to charge Prime Minister Jovenel Moise for the assassination of late President Ariel Henry in Haiti. He has also barred the prime minister from leaving the country.

Port-au-Prince's chief prosecutor Bedford Claude had previously invited Henry to testify about the case citing evidence that a key suspect in the assassination called him within hours after the murder. Henry was allegedly set to testify on Tuesday morning.

The suspect, former minister of the Haitian justice ministry Joseph Felix Badio, is currently believed to be on the run.

Henry told CNN on Tuesday that he is talking with the judge about charges against Claude.
