Lithuania's business advisor says companies have given assurances before visit

The businesses had given assurances before Gitanas Nauseda's visit to Germany on Thursday, according to the advisor.

She told LRT Radio that the president will speak with Germany's leaders about this. We received assurances from the German companies present in Lithuania that they have no intention of withdrawing before the visit. The advisor said that if Lithuania changes its positions on Taiwan, Beijing has imposed undeclared sanctions on Lithuania and its threat to multinational companies that they won't be able to continue working with China.

Skaisgiryte said that Lithuania wants to normalize diplomatic relations with the world's most populous country.

In autumn, China stopped issuing food export permits, cut credit limits and raised prices for Lithuanian companies. Lithuanian goods can't clear customs because of the removal of Lithuania from its customs systems.

It has been reported that China is urging foreign companies to stop using components made in Lithuania.
