It has been estimated that around 2.8 billion users were affected by the strike. The social media shutdown also prevented Facebook's 60,000 employees from connecting to the company's internal communications systems and even meant that staff members in California were unable to enter the state's data center. The following three quarters wiped 36.7 billion posts off Facebook's share value.
