09.12.2022

Consumers check out Huawei's phones at a store in Shanghai in June. On Friday, Chinese tech giant Huawei announced that it has signed a global patent cross-licensing agreement with domestic smartphone maker Oppo.

According to Huawei, the agreement covers cellular standard essential patents, including 5 G.

In the past year, Huawei has signed patent licensing deals with more than 20 manufacturers around the world, including Samsung, said Shen Hongfei, vice president of Huawei's legal department.

A total of 350 million 5 G mobile phones and 15 million intelligent connected vehicles are expected to be granted patents by the company this year, according to Shen Hongfei, vice president of Huawei's legal department.

The two companies recognize and respect the value of each other's intellectual property, as evidenced by the fact that they are both well-known. Adler Feng, Oppo's chief intellectual property officer, said it was a win-win deal for both sides.
