Poland to receive EUR 900 million compensation for arms to Ukraine

24.03.2023

Poland will be compensated by the EU for transferring arms to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 900 million, according to the Polish prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.

After a European Union summit in Brussels on Friday, Morawiecki told reporters that EU leaders had agreed that the European Peace Facility, which is used to fund the supply of arms to Ukraine, would amount to EUR 3.5 billion over the next few months, and most of the funds will go to Poland. By Easter, Poland will receive up to 300 million in compensation for weapons transferred to Ukraine, and in the following months will receive another 500 -- 600 million, according to Morawiecki.

He added that Warsaw will be the biggest beneficiary of the European Peace Facility and that is a huge success for Poland. In place of the older weapons that we transferred to Ukraine, we'll be able to use European money to buy very modern weapons, ammunition, and create new technology lines for the production of ammunition and various types of weapons. Morawiecki said something.

He pledged that he would continue his efforts to make the European Peace Facility as generous as possible.
