Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Expects Congress Victory in Lok Sabha Polls

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in his party's victory in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, claiming that the Congress will win about 20 out of the total 28 seats in the state. He attributed this expected success to the popularity of the government's guarantee schemes, which he believes have resonated with the people.

Siddaramaiah cast his vote at his native village Siddaramanahundi and spoke to reporters afterwards. He dismissed the notion of a "Modi wave" in Karnataka, stating that the only wave present is the "guarantee wave" generated by the Congress government's initiatives. He highlighted the direct transfer of funds to people's bank accounts without any middlemen as a key factor in the schemes' success.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the people will "bless" the Congress party once again, as they did during the Assembly polls last year. He refrained from predicting the exact number of seats the Congress will win in the first phase, citing the secrecy of the ballot. However, he asserted that the party will win a majority of the 14 seats up for grabs.

Siddaramaiah also expressed optimism about the Congress's prospects in the second phase of polling, scheduled for May 7th. He pointed to the party's strong presence in the districts that will be voting then and highlighted his recent campaigning efforts alongside Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speeches, Siddaramaiah described them as "filled with frustration" and "anti-Constitution." He attributed this to Modi's fear of losing the elections.

Siddaramaiah also criticized JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda for his "opportunist politics" and questioned the sincerity of his recent emotional displays during campaigning. He emphasized that the people can see through such tactics and will ultimately decide the fate of politicians based on their performance.
