Poland's FDI in Ukraine to increase to USD 30 billion

In the next five years, Poland's foreign direct investments FDI in Ukraine are expected to increase to USD 30 billion, according to a Polish government think-tank.

According to the National Bank of Poland NBP, Poland's FDI totaled USD 1.2 billion in the year 2021. Polish companies will mostly invest in the energy, construction and financial sectors in Ukraine, according to the data from the Polish Economic Institute PIE.

In September, Poland's exports to Ukraine went up 46 percent year on year, while imports increased 23 percent, according to PIE experts, according to International Monetary Fund IMF data.

They said the growth had resulted from Poland's arms exports to that country and humanitarian aid provided after Russia invaded Ukraine.

In 2014, Poland's profit on direct investments in Ukraine went up from minus 34 million to a record of EUR 130 million in 2021, according to the NBP.
