China's Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong strongly disapproved of US Policy Act report, says it is 'unacceptable'

PHOTO XINHUA HONG KONG - The Office of the Commissioner of Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region HKSAR strongly disapproved of and disapproval of the so-called 2023 Hong Kong Policy Act Report issued by the US government and the statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

A spokesman for the office said they discredited the successful practice of one country, two systems, the national security law in Hong Kong and Hong Kong's new electoral system, and slandered the rule of law, democracy, freedom and human rights in Hong Kong.

They also interfered in Hong Kong's affairs and China's internal affairs, and violated international law and basic norms governing international relations, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that the Chinese government has always followed the principles of one country, two systems and Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong with a high degree of autonomy. The city has moved into greater prosperity and opened a new chapter in good governance with patriots administering Hong Kong, a spokesperson said, adding that Hong Kong residents are living a happier life and global investors are casting their votes of confidence in Hong Kong with concrete actions.

The spokesperson said that no one has the privilege to be above the law, and no rights and freedoms should harm the public interest.

The rule of law and judicial independence in Hong Kong are constitutionally guaranteed by the basic law, and the police and judiciary of the SAR are in strict accordance with law, the spokesperson said.

The United States' naked double standard and bullying acts exposed its dark mentality of trying to disrupt Hong Kong, and its ulterior motive of using Hong Kong to contain China under the guise of democracy, human rights and rule of law.

The US side should recognize facts, mind its own business, stop all self-humiliating moves and stop interfering with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
