On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tested positive for COVID-19. Singh is currently under a home quarantine with mild symptoms. The defence minister has been advised to rest after a team of doctors examined him.

Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande and other senior Army officers also were present at the Army Commanders' conference on Wednesday. Singh practiced firing on a small arms firing simualtor yesterday, the news agency ANI reported.
India has now reported 12,591 new COVID-19 infections, an increase of nearly 20 per cent from Wednesday. The country's active caseload now is 65,286 cases, and the death toll has risen to 5,31, 230, the health ministry said.
While the daily positive index was 5.46 per cent, the weekly positive index was 5.32 per cent.
