China says it aims to achieve first manned lunar landing by 2030

China's Manned Space Agency CMSA said Monday it plans to realize manned lunar landing by 2030, a new milestone for the Chinese space agency.

Lin Xiqiang, the deputy director of CMSA, said that China has recently completed the lunar landing phase of its manned lunar exploration program.

The ultimate goal for China is to achieve its first manned landing on the moon and carry out Moon scientific exploration and related technological experiments, he said.

The goal also involves mastering the crucial technologies such as Earth-moon manned roundtrip, lunar surface short-term stay, human-robot joint exploration, accomplishing multiple tasks of landing, roving, sampling, research, and returning, and forming an independent capability of manned lunar exploration.
