IRCTC says Adani’s purchase of Trainman not a threat to its operations

On Sunday, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation IRCTC reaffirmed that Adani's acquisition of the online train booking app Trainman would not challenge IRCTC s domain and would only complement its operations.

The corporation said so in response to Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Twitter, who claimed the Adani purchase would compete with the IRCTC. First competition with IRCTC, then takeover, Ramesh said.

Jairam Ramesh's tweet was labeled a misleading statement by IRCTC, the corporation said in a statement.

Trainman is one of the 32 approved B 2 C Business to customer partners of IRCTC. All integration and operations will continue to be done through IRCTC. It will only compliment IRCTC and is not a threat or challenge to IRCTC, it said in a statement.

Trainman is one of 32 IRCTC-authorised train booking partners. Trainman is utilized for booking and accessing other train-related information. Vieet Chirania and Karan Kumar started the start-up in 2011 as a start-up from IIT-Roorkee graduates.

Adani Digital Labs, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has acquired Trainman, the online reservation platform.

Adani Digital Labs Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has signed a Share Purchase Agreement for its proposed acquisition of 100 per cent interest in Stark Enterprises Private Limited, also known as Trainman, an online train booking and information platform, the Adani Group informed via a stock exchange notification.
