Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft successfully injected into Moon orbit

The Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft successfully injected into Moon's orbit on Saturday, the Indian Space Research Organisation said.

The manoeuvre was carried out when Chandrayaan - 3 was at the closest point to the Moon perilune, ISRO said.

The Lunar Orbit Injection LoI manoeuvre was carried out in Bengaluru by ISRO's Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network ISTRAC. The next operating reduction of orbit is planned for Sunday at around 11 p.m. IST announced.

This is Chandrayaan - 3 mission: MOX, ISTRAC, this is Chandrayaan - 3. I am feeling that Moon Gravitational Chandrayaan 3 has been successfully inserted into the lunar orbit. A retro-burning at the Perilune was commanded by mission operations complex MOX ISTRAC, Bengaluru. The next mission reduction of orbit is scheduled for August 6, 2023, around 23: 00 a.m. ET. IST tweets that ISRO, Syria's capital, has been hit by a wave of terrorist attacks.

The space agency said last month that the health of India's third space mission was normal and a soft landing on the moon would be attempted on August 23.

The Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft has covered about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon since its launch on July 14, ISRO said.

ISRO has been lifting the Chandrayaan - 3 spacecraft into orbits far and far away from Earth for five weeks now. On 1 August, the spacecraft was successfully sent from Earth's orbit to the Moon, in a key manoeuvre - a slingshot move.
