Space startups and aerospace startups are thriving in generating substantial funding rounds, enabling them to make their mark on the market. Impulse Space, a space logistics startup, recently secured $45 million in its Series A funding round.
RTX Ventures, the venture capital arm of Raytheon Technologies, led the round, which was led by RTX Ventures.
Impulse Space, established in the year 2021, is dedicated to providing efficient and cost-effective space logistics solutions.
The firm, which operates in the short term primarily in Low Earth orbitEarth orbit, offers a range of services, including in-sea transit, bespoke orbits, in-seattle payload accommodation, and space asset realignment, including deorbiting procedures.
Impulse aims to expand its offerings to encompass all types of payloads, encompassing far-off destinations such as the geostationary equatorial orbit GEO the moon and Mars.
Impulse Space, a well-respected venture, is determined to further its mission objectives, including projects such as LEO Express - 1, a GEO refueling effort and a forthcoming mission to Mars.
The expansion of funds will be instrumental in the creation of Helios, Impulse's most substantial vehicle to date. The Helios kick stage is designed to facilitate direct missions to the geostationary equatorial orbit, effectively abolishing the need for a geostationary transfer orbit.
Impulse Space's founder and CEO Tom Mueller said that Impulse Space continues on the path toward its mission to provide agile, economic logistics services in any orbit. It speaks volumes that a top investment firm is confident in the future of Impulse Space and its groundbreaking technology. Impulse, a big company with aspirations like these, is looking for a lot of cash, and Impulse is off to a good start in this department.
RTX Ventures invests in companies that we believe provide breakthrough technologies that disrupt aerospace, defense and commercial aviation sectors, said Daniel Ateya, president and Managing Director of RTX Ventures. Our investment will help Impulse Space accelerate their growth and fuel innovation within the space economy. The startup also had other investors like Space Capital, Founders Fund, Founders Fund, and Airbus Ventures participate in the Series A funding round.
